We had new red playdough to play with today and the sensory table still has rice in it but we added red apples to our table.
We did bingo daubers today working on familiarzing ourselves with the letter A and what an apple looks like.
Today we painted a Red Apple. These apples will be displayed in our room over the next couple of weeks as we begin to make a fall scence on our walls.
Today to help us become familiar with the number 2 we worked on not only our counting skills but our pre writing skill as we colored two apples. We got to chose from red, yellow and green crayons. We talked about how apples can be these three different colors and they can all taste different.
We are doing a lot when we are playing and that is how we spent the first hour today. Play is so important to my little friends I really make sure they are getting plenty of time to play.
We are starting to work on sitting during our morning meeting on our rug. We each need to find a letter to sit on and we need to sit criss cross applesauce with spoons in our bowls. This is something we will work on all year long. Our calendar is filled with different colored apples, and today we introduced a new concept to our morning meeting and A-B pattern with red and green apples. Patterning will be something we will do through out the entire year. We also were introduced to the color red, the number two and and the shape of and Octagon which reminds us of a stop sign and tells us to stop. We read a book titled Saturday with Daddy. We closed our morning meeting with prayer.
Today we learned about the story of Creation in the Bible, sang Jesus Loves Me and learned a new song during Jesus Time called THE B-I-B-L-E. We closed with an echo prayer and then had time for music and movement. We sang The Wheels on the Bus, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, our ABC's, The Itsy Bitsy Spider
We were unable to get outside today because of the rainy day were having so we made our first adventure to the commns where we were able to run and paly and be with our other ELP friends in the full day program. It was great fun and we will be back soon.
We did have a short circle time our commons play. We read another story about our favorite red dog Clifford and we were introduced to our poem of the month. This is somehting new that we have added into our day. This month our poem is about an apple.
